I WAS
Once I was a happy child,
Running as I pleased.
Now I've grown into a woman
A creature of responsibility
My creativity swept away in a breeze.
For I am no longer free
As a little child might be
When I was a child I would wish
With each and every kiss
Mama gave me
I would grow up
But as I wished, I failed to see
Children live in a glorious world of fantasy
How I long to live in those dreams once again
To have people I could easily call friend
Running as I pleased.
Now I've grown into a woman
A creature of responsibility
My creativity swept away in a breeze.
For I am no longer free
As a little child might be
When I was a child I would wish
With each and every kiss
Mama gave me
I would grow up
But as I wished, I failed to see
Children live in a glorious world of fantasy
How I long to live in those dreams once again
To have people I could easily call friend
